The Frederickson Classics Presents

“Reflections: Progress in Design”

At the Seattle Intl. Auto Show

These stylized cars from private collections feature the Chrysler marque, showing design changes over five decades (the 20's, 30's 40's 50's 60's) and the many innovations incorporated into later and even current automobiles.

1925 Chrysler Phaeton Six

This 1925 Chrysler 70 touring represents the beginning of Chrysler’s engineering legacy, with full 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, high compression six cylinder engine with full pressure lubrication with a 70 MPH top speed.

1931 Chrysler CD 80 Roadster

The 1931 Chrysler Roadster represented even higher levels of performance than just six years earlier. The car has a powerful eight cylinder engine and a four speed transmission. These Chryslers were beautiful classics, setting many speed records. They were raced successfully in the United States and Europe.

1935 Chrysler Airflow

The pinnacle of Chrysler Corporation’s engineering genius was the controversially styled Airflow. This 1935 Airflow coupe was at least 10 years ahead of its time. It features automatic choke, power brakes, overdrive, uni-body type construction and performance ahead much of its competition. Many of its innovations were incorporated into later Chryslers and other makes.

1947 Chrysler Town and Country

The ultimate Chrysler for visual impact has to be the 1947 Town and Country. These hand built “woody” convertibles were the epitome of class and high style. These limited production cars are still the benchmark of forties style and quality with their fluid drive with smooth and powerful straight eight engines.

1955 Chrysler Windsor Newport

For 1955 Chrysler spent a reported $100 Million on restyling all of its cars. This restyle brought the Corporation’s products up to date visually, matching their modern V-8 engines, automatic transmissions, power steering and other advances. This 1955 Windsor shows this new style quite well, with its wire wheels and beautiful fifties color contrasts.

1958 Chrysler 300D

The 1957 Chrysler 300 is probably the high point of finned fifties style and Chrysler’s famous Hemi V-8 performance. It is powered by the legendary 392 Hemi with dual four barrels carbs producing 375 horse power, and the famous Torque-Flite automatic transmission. These cars were in a class of their own for over the road performance and speed.

1961 Chrysler New Yorker

Our final display car represents the last of line for the Virgil Exner-designed “finned” Chryslers. This 1961 New Yorker has the famous Torsion Bar suspension, rugged Torque-Flite automatic transmission and powerful 413 cubic inch V-8. Chrysler also pioneered Electro-luminescent dash lighting on this car, along with swivel bucket seats, cruise control and numerous power assisted accessories.
